Floyd Clymer's Chronicles of the Indy 500

Speed has always excited the world.  As long as there have been cars, cycles or other forms of transportation, people have wanted to go faster.

The capitol of speed is the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.  Built in 1909, this 2 1/2 mile race track in the form of a squared "D" shape has been a huge challenge to all of the best race drivers, mechanics and all people involved in motor racing.

The Indianapolis 500, the NASCAR Brickyard 400 and the American Formula One race are special annual features of the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

These gently used books are your gateway to the history of the Indianapolis 500 Mile Race.

The Indianapolis Motor Speedway has hosted the Indianapolis 500 every year since 1911 with the exception of the war years: 1917-1918 and 1942 through 1945.  Floyd Clymer's History of the Indianapolis 500 begins with his first book published in 1946, which tells the history of the Indianapolis Motor Speedway from 1909 (before the traditional 500 mile races began).
